Upsilon Lambda Lambda Chapter History

The National Headquarter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated officially chartered and recognized the Upsilon Lambda Lambda Chapter # 923 of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity on July 22, 2004. The Chapter's location was officially designated as Tokyo, Japan, the Land of the Rising Sun. The Charter Members were Brothers Eric Barnes, Luke Hill, Edgard R. Oakley, Kedric Webster, and Walter Foggie.

Upsilon Lambda Lambda Chapter was the first Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Chapter founded on mainland Japan, adding to the expansion of the 13th District within the Orient and to the international chapters of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. The Chapter Members affectionately refer to themselves as the "Samurai QUES".

Since 2004, the Chapter has crossed lines in 2005, 2007, 2009, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2020 and 2022. The members of Upsilon Lambda Lambda Chapter are a composite of college educated men from the communities of the Kanto Plains. Brother are either assigned or work at the military facilities of Yokosuka Naval Base, Camp Zama Army Base, Naval Air Facility Atsugi and Yokota Air Base.

Our members are also made up of Brothers who either work, study, or live in the metropolitan area of Tokyo and Yokohama. Upsilon Lambda Lambda engages in many altruistic endeavors to support our local communities by raising funds through various venues and events. The Chapter provides annual scholarship awards to high school seniors and the local Japanese communities.

The Samurai Ques of Upsilon Lambda Lambda Chapter remains steadfast and resolute to lift as we climb, build bridges to assist others who follow in our paths and promote the fraternity's motto that Friendship is Essential to the Soul.
